Fifth grade pupils participated in the Ecosystems e-twinning project in cooperation with the Spanish Charles Darwin School. The goal of the project is to get pupils to know each other, to learn about the marine ecosystem and the importance of nature conservation, and to improve spoken and written communication in a foreign language.
Fifth and seventh grade pupils arranged a themed Christmas classroom according to the reuse/reduce/recycle principle - they used old decorations they brought from home and made new ones from existing ones or using objects from everyday life. The goal of the activity was to raise awareness of the need to reduce waste and consumption.
Fifth and seventh grade pupils worked on the topics of diversity and sustainable living as part of the project activity of the classroom outdoors. For seventh-graders, it was preparation for the My GITA city/town/village project activity, where the pupils had the task of developing an idea for their sustainable settlement according to the ecological principles of "reuse/reduce/recycle" and orally presenting their idea in front of the other pupils.
The 6th grade pupils presented their project "Small but big ecologists" to the employees of the Communal Service of the Rovinj project. Employees of the Municipal Service cleared up the pupils' numerous doubts regarding the proper disposal of waste and agreed to continue cooperation and visit the Gripoli Recycling Yard.
Our school once again demonstrated successful cooperation with the local community and responded to the invitation of the People's Open University. The organizer of the event is the Innolab Foundation, which had the idea to combine the works of talented elementary school pupils from Rovinj on the theme "Rovinj with love". The result of all this was an exhibition that was open to all visitors in the premises of CVU Batana from February 5th to 16th in the period from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The music teacher designed an activity in which all pupils can participate, even those who do not have particularly strong musical talents. The teacher created a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in which pupils can express their emotions with voice and instruments. In this way, pupils develop self-esteem, the expression of their feelings, but also numerous other social skills. Also, the activity is adapted for pupils with disabilities who are also happy to come to the activity.
Civic education pupils, accompanied by their teacher, visited the Agro longo nursery in Rovinj. The employees of the nursery took the pupils around the greenhouses and shop and explained to them the process of obtaining plants from the very beginning and sowing all the way to selling the plant. The employees of the nursery explained to the pupils the eco-growing they use and explained all its benefits. The pupils listened carefully and asked questions about watering, plants and the sale itself. The employees of the nursery invited the pupils for a return visit, where they will be able to try and help the employees in taking care of the plants.
Sixth-grade pupils used their digital competences to organize an Eco action to collect EE waste. This was preceded by an analysis of the school's environmental awareness and a visit to the Municipal Service. The pupils investigated how our school does not have recycling of EE waste and realized that we need one! They took matters into their own hands and decided to organize an Eco action. They made posters to inform all pupils and staff of the school about their eco campaign, which everyone is eagerly waiting for!
On the occasion of the International Day of Education, which we celebrate on January 24, the pupils of Civic Education visited the head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities of the City of Rovinj, Edita Sošić Blažević. In the City Palace, the pupils of 6th grade asked questions and presented their difficulties that they encounter as pupils of the school located in the Old Town, but also as children living in the Old Town. We talked about the possibility of setting up air conditioning in our school, a larger subsidy for school trips for socially disadvantaged children, the ever-current topic of the ice rink at Rovinj Advent, parking for school employees, subsidies for children's train and boat rides in the summer season, outdoor classrooms, traffic in our Street E. de Amicisa, donation of board games... Our pupils proved to be very eloquent and aware citizens of our city. We thank the leaders for their friendliness, kindness and patient answers to our very wide range of questions.
Let's hope that the child's voice will be heard in the future and that we will see some fruits of our visit to the leader.
