Hours outside the classroom

Since the Activate project has been underway, our students have had the opportunity to participate in numerous field lessons. Our students went to one-day, two-day field classes. They also visited many institutions in the school district. In addition, they also spent many hours in the school's yard or district and thus experienced outdoor teaching. Compared to the year before the implementation of the project, based on the analysis of the e-diaries, the students spent more hours of classes outdoors, both in field classes and in outdoor classrooms. Also, the school curriculum includes the fact that occasionally students will have outdoor classrooms in all subjects.

Student volunteers

Teachers and professional assistants try to encourage students to volunteer as much as possible. The school tries to get involved in various humanitarian actions, but also in cooperation with the local community to provide students with opportunities for volunteering. The school tries to introduce students to various institutions and associations where they can volunteer. The largest number of students is involved in volunteering with the Red Cross, but in addition to that, students also volunteered in the Association of Persons with Disabilities and in green actions organized by the school. The number of students who participated in some form of volunteering during the duration of the Activate project is about 25% of the total number of students in our school. We hope that this number will increase from year to year.

Celebrating World Soil Day

Students celebrated World Soil Day in different ways. Lower classes learned to sort waste and store surplus food, while upper classes learned about the importance of soil and what we can do to protect soil quality. The teachers used various learning and teaching methods in their classes, most of which were focused on the student and on practical work. All the teachers explained the concept of sustainable development to the students during the lessons and explained it to the students in a way that was acceptable to them. At the end, a formative evaluation was conducted through a survey, and the results showed that 239 students up to a total of 268 (89%) students who participated in the evaluation correctly recognized the definition of sustainable development! We hope that they will apply the learned theory in practice!
