Teachers from the Vladimir Nazor Elementary School in Rovinj were part of an international event that brought together representatives of 26 European cities in Rovinj from September 28 to October 1, 2023. It was the General Assembly of the Association of Twinning Towns of the European Union Douzelage, which is held every year in one of the member cities.
Douzelage is an association that promotes cooperation, exchange and friendship between cities of different cultures, languages and traditions in Europe. It was founded in 1991 and today it has 27 cities from 26 countries. Rovinj became a member of Douzelage in the spring of 2016 as a representative of Croatia, and at this year's assembly it had the opportunity to host about 300 participants from other member cities. During the four days of the assembly, a rich program was organized, which included working meetings, presentations, workshops, cultural and sports activities, as well as tours of the sights of Rovinj and its surroundings.
Teachers from the Vladimir Nazor Elementary School in Rovinj actively participated in the assembly, sharing their experiences and ideas with colleagues from other countries. They also had the opportunity to learn about different educational systems, methods and practices that are applied in European countries, and gained new knowledge, skills and contacts that will help them improve their pedagogical work. The Douzelage Assembly in Rovinj was a successful example of international cooperation and networking at the local level.
