In order to promote responsible consumption and production in accordance with the 12th goal of sustainable development, during the English lesson, we organized class "flea markets" or "second-hand markets". The 6th and 8th grade students exchanged things that they no longer needed, but were in good condition, and the class stands contained clothes, equipment, toys, comics, books and other things that made the new owners happy. We tried to promote the idea of sustainability through the exchange of things and recycling, and to raise students' awareness of responsible consumption. Together we concluded that sometimes it is not necessary to buy new things, but it is enough to exchange them.
Even younger students got involved in the project activities! We introduced the 2nd grade students to the meaning of the concept of sustainability. After that, the students were given the task to draw a portrait of Sustainability as they imagine it and to list in English the elements they included in the portrait. It's never too early to talk about important topics for the planet!
