Under the mentorship of art teacher Tonij Žufić, our pupils painted large canvases that will decorate this year's Advent and the corridors of Rovinj's Gandusio Theater. These works, inspired by old noble portraits with Christmas details, will be donated to the People's Open University of Rovinj.
These unique works of art not only showcase the extraordinary skills and creativity of our pupils, but also bring a touch of history and holiday spirit to our city. Each portrait tells its own story, combining the elegance of the past with the warmth and joy of Christmas. The pupils once again gave their contribution and showed that they are active in the work of the local community.
During the Home Economics classes, the pupils showed how one fruit tree can be used in many ways and that throwing older fruit trees in the trash is not the best solution! Instead, we can make a lot of delicious dishes and drinks. So our pupils prepared a puff pastry and apple cake, while they prepared a natural squeezed apple juice for a drink. In addition to the above, they also prepared delicious apple chips!
First grade pupils attended a field lesson in Rovinjsko Selo where they visited numerous “kažune” – little houses of stone, and learned what they were, what they looked like, how they were built and what they were used for. The mentioned visit inspired the first-year pupils for real artistic works. By recycling old newsprint, they built their own “kažun” and thus once again proved that art and sustainable development are an ideal combination!
Pupils of Juraj Dobrila Elementary School and Vladimir Nazor Elementary School Rovinj had a joint meeting on the topic "Exchange of Erasmus experience" and thus marked this year's Erasmus Days. The pupils first introduced themselves, and then they said which countries and places they visited thanks to Erasmus projects. They described the application procedure for student mobility. Furthermore, they reflected on specific mobilities, what they learned there, what they would apply in their school, the advantages and disadvantages of the host school. They also reflected on the way of spending free time on student mobility. The pupils of Dobrila shared with our pupils the good, but also challenging aspects of receiving and leaving the family during mobility. The pupils actively participated and exchanged good experiences and useful tips for future mobility through laughter and socializing. Judging by their comments, they can't wait to indulge in a new adventure and take part in future mobilities.
The 6th grade pupils who attend the extracurricular activity Civic Education visited the recycling yard of our city this Monday. Under the slogan "Get to know me and recycle me", they toured the yard, asked questions and learned about waste recycling. We would like to thank everyone who welcomed us and who keep our city so clean and beautiful. Let's hope that all of us, and especially our pupils, will become more aware of caring for our environment, because it is actually caring for the future of our beautiful, blue planet.
The fifth graders, accompanied by their art teacher, visited the Museum of the City of Rovinj. First, they toured the museum, followed by a creative workshop. The pupils were given the task of using collage to create reproductions of paintings that are kept in the museum. After that, the pupils' works were brought to life by artificial intelligence and delighted everyone present. The pictures, the pupils' work, suddenly came to life and began to sing! It was a real example of the combination of art and technology, all with a dose of children's imagination!
The English teacher designed an interesting project activity for pupils called "My GITA city/ town/ village". The pupils were divided into pairs to do a creative task in which they had to draw and describe an imaginary place that has GITA elements, a place that has the following characteristics: green city (sustainable development), inclusivity, technology and an active population. The pupils had to present the designed place orally to the rest of the class. In addition to the presented activity, the pupils evaluated the extent to which their city Rovinj meets the required characteristics and rated it with a grade C. With this task, the pupils showed their interesting ideas, critical thinking and practical solutions to the environmental problems we face nowadays. We hope that as many places as possible in the future will resemble the GITA cities of our pupils!
The school marked World Hiking Day. At eight in the morning, all pupils and teachers met in front of the school. The pupils took over their lunch and the hike began! They had a little more than five kilometers to reach their final destination. They passed through the streets of the City to get down to the waterfront, then they continued along the coast all the way to the Zlatni rt Forest Park. Lower classes stopped at a meadow in the park, while higher classes continued to the basketball court. Upon arrival, the pupils played various games from football, volleyball, basketball, to jumping rubber bands and jumping rope. The day was organized so that the pupils can move and stay on the fresh air. Also, teachers used the opportunity to teach the pupils to take care of the environment, and the pupils cleaned up all the trash after themselves and put it in the waste bins. It was an instructive, beautiful and active gathering away from school desks!
The pupils of the fourth grade went to visit the Home for the elderly "Domenico Pergolis" in order to socialize with their users. Since it was Children's Week, the users of the Home prepared two interesting games for them: Corn hole and a hanging bowling alley. The users of the home divided the pupils into two groups and alternately introduced them to both games. The pupils showed great interest and accepted the games with smiles on their faces. Users and pupils were happy to spend time together and expressed interest in future meetings!
