Thirty teachers from our school started solving the digital tool SELFIE for Teachers. SELFIE is an initiative of the European Commission and is financed under the Erasmus program. It is a digital self-assessment tool that then generates feedback in the form of a report. Respondents are evaluated in the following areas: professional engagement, digital resources and materials, learning and teaching, monitoring and evaluation, empowering students, and enabling the development and guidance of students' digital competencies. In addition to a detailed report, respondents receive information on their current level of digital competence. There are a total of six levels, from beginner to leader. In addition to the level of competence, the respondents also received recommendations for improving their own work.
Pupils told their impressions and experiences to their friends in class and at the Pupil’s Council. They also wrote an article for the school newspaper Galeb. In addition to the above, pupils filled out a survey with their impressions and constructive advices. When asked what they liked the most, the pupils mentioned a tour of Rome (various sights), food, hanging out with friends from Rovinj, meeting new friends at the host school and spending time with them. While several of them wrote that they didn't like the crowd in the city, the metro ride, a lot of walking, and some aspects of the host school. Almost everyone liked the food! When asked what they would change, the majority answered nothing because everything was great, but a few of them had a suggestion for a different organization of free time and accommodation. The average grade with which the pupils rated their satisfaction with mobility is 4.67 on a scale from 1- not at all satisfied to 5- completely satisfied!
Our school tries to involve students as much as possible in the work of the local community. Throughout the school year, on several occasions, pupils visited the Home for the Elderly "Domenico Pergolis" Rovinj. Sometimes they went to get together, talk and play social games, sometimes they prepared appropriate recitations and songs, they learned how to make traditional Pashto pljukanci ecc. This time, the students of the music department decided to hold a summer concert for the users of the Home. The students brought positive energy with their performance and awakened the youthful spirit of the users. The users did not hide the smiles on their faces and sang with our students on several occasions!
Seventh-grade pupils visited the Marine Research Center of the "Ruđer Bošković" Institute in Rovinj, where they were greeted by experts on macroalgae of the Adriatic Sea. During an interesting lecture in the "wet" laboratory, pupils saw live examples of endemic Adriatic algae, learned interesting facts about their ecology and the importance of their preservation for the living world of the Adriatic. The pupils felt the algae themselves, and of course, found out which species can be eaten. They also found out what efforts are being made to restore the populations of certain endemic species to our Adriatic, and they also observed open-air pools for the cultivation of certain species. An interesting interactive lecture was followed by an inspection of the aquarium and a farewell. Many thanks to the Center and the experts for the interesting lectures, and we hope for further cooperation!
On the occasion of the School Day, the pupils took part in a hike to Golden Cape. On their way back, they stopped at the basketball court. They played different games on the playground, from football, badminton, volleyball, basketball and even jump the rubber band! This way of celebrating the School Day tries to emphasize to the pupils the importance of being on the fresh air, physical activity and hanging out with friends. We hope that another hike will follow soon!
"Investigate because knowledge is your superpower!" - is the slogan of this year's joint open day of the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB) and the Institute of Physics (IF) called "Frizbijada". The institute organized numerous workshops, experiments and other interactive activities for pipils. Topics that are scientific, at first glance complicated and incomprehensible, were presented in a very entertaining way and adapted to the age and language of the children. We thank them for this opportunity that enabled the pupils to learn experientially and changed their views on science. We are looking forward to the next Frizbijada!
The principal of Feldbach Elementary School from Austria and two classroom teachers from the mentioned school came to visit our school. They came to visit with the aim of establishing cooperation between the two schools. The goal is to connect pipils, strengthen their communication, language and digital competences, as well as learn about the European Community. During the visit to our school, one class took the guests with them to field lessons in OPG Pekica near Savičenta. The guests were delighted and said that they were looking forward to continued cooperation!
The pupils were given the task of researching the tradition of Rovinj forged fences and studying these historical symbols, and then creating a work of art. In this role, they were active and guided their learning process. The teachers were of course there to guide them when needed. The works they created were made of aluminum foil on a dark black plastic base. These fences, which are more than just protectors of homes, carry stories of past times and bear witness to the cultural heritage of the city. The students' works were exhibited on the terrace of the Italian Community "Circolo", where visitors could enjoy this combination of art and history for seven days.
The pupils of the 7th B grade talked with the residents of the Home for the Elderly in Rovinj about how they spent their time in front of the "screen" (Netflix, cell phones, etc.) and how they learned information and learned without the Internet. In groups, the pupils talked with one ward, and then they visited the other persons and greeted them and had a little chat with them. The conversation eventually turned into a pleasant gathering and a song.
