Civic education pupils, accompanied by their teacher, visited the Agro longo nursery in Rovinj. The employees of the nursery took the pupils around the greenhouses and shop and explained to them the process of obtaining plants from the very beginning and sowing all the way to selling the plant. The employees of the nursery explained to the pupils the eco-growing they use and explained all its benefits. The pupils listened carefully and asked questions about watering, plants and the sale itself. The employees of the nursery invited the pupils for a return visit, where they will be able to try and help the employees in taking care of the plants.
Sixth-grade pupils used their digital competences to organize an Eco action to collect EE waste. This was preceded by an analysis of the school's environmental awareness and a visit to the Municipal Service. The pupils investigated how our school does not have recycling of EE waste and realized that we need one! They took matters into their own hands and decided to organize an Eco action. They made posters to inform all pupils and staff of the school about their eco campaign, which everyone is eagerly waiting for!
On the occasion of the International Day of Education, which we celebrate on January 24, the pupils of Civic Education visited the head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities of the City of Rovinj, Edita Sošić Blažević. In the City Palace, the pupils of 6th grade asked questions and presented their difficulties that they encounter as pupils of the school located in the Old Town, but also as children living in the Old Town. We talked about the possibility of setting up air conditioning in our school, a larger subsidy for school trips for socially disadvantaged children, the ever-current topic of the ice rink at Rovinj Advent, parking for school employees, subsidies for children's train and boat rides in the summer season, outdoor classrooms, traffic in our Street E. de Amicisa, donation of board games... Our pupils proved to be very eloquent and aware citizens of our city. We thank the leaders for their friendliness, kindness and patient answers to our very wide range of questions.
Let's hope that the child's voice will be heard in the future and that we will see some fruits of our visit to the leader.

The pupils of the 6th grades planted guardhouses, which we symbolically named guardhouses. Namely, custard apple belongs to medicinal plants because they have been used in folk medicine since ancient times. In addition to decorating our assembly hall with their beauty and variety of colors and shapes, they have also become guardians of our school!
The city library hosted 5th and 6th grade pupils on the occasion of Croatian Libraries Day. On that occasion, pupils listened to oral Istrian folk stories. About dragons, giants, fairies, dragons and golden geese, narrated by writer Aleksandar Bančić. Then, in the Croatian language class, they practiced retelling those stories. Pupils learned a lot of interesting and new stories through cooperation with the local community and an active approach to learning!
In October, sixth grade pupils attended extracurricular classes in Buzet. There they visited the Karlić Museum - the only truffle museum in Croatia and went truffle hunting. In addition, pupils studied the Law on Environmental Protection and the Rulebook on Mushroom Picking during the Civic Education class.
Today we were visited by the Association of the Blind of the Istrian County, more precisely its president and his entourage. They held appropriate workshops in the fourth and eighth grades. They told how blindness occurs, how blind people get an education, find their way in everyday life and numerous other topics that interested our pupils. The part of the workshop that impressed the pupils the most was showing and trying out the aids intended for blind people. Others were surprised by the variety of aids and games. This is how the pupils saw a mobile phone, chess, a calculator, and a typewriter for blind people for the first time. There were also aids such as a color identifier, an egg doneness identifier, a talking wristwatch and many other aids. Thank you to the Association for the visit and for the reminder that we are all unique, different, but equally valuable!
Pupils from 5th to 8th grade had the opportunity to participate in an original computer science lesson through the escape room concept. This innovative approach to learning enabled young participants to explore the secrets of the Adriatic Sea through fun and creative tasks, decipher hidden messages and use artificial intelligence tools, all in an interactive atmosphere with the help of invisible markers and UV light. Escape room as a form of teaching has shown how pupils can learn in a way that encourages creativity, teamwork and the application of new technologies, thus creating an unforgettable and exciting classroom.
