Association of the Blind of Istria County

Today we were visited by the Association of the Blind of the Istrian County, more precisely its president and his entourage. They held appropriate workshops in the fourth and eighth grades. They told how blindness occurs, how blind people get an education, find their way in everyday life and numerous other topics that interested our pupils. The part of the workshop that impressed the pupils the most was showing and trying out the aids intended for blind people. Others were surprised by the variety of aids and games. This is how the pupils saw a mobile phone, chess, a calculator, and a typewriter for blind people for the first time. There were also aids such as a color identifier, an egg doneness identifier, a talking wristwatch and many other aids. Thank you to the Association for the visit and for the reminder that we are all unique, different, but equally valuable!

Informatics in a different way: Escape Room in schools

Pupils from 5th to 8th grade had the opportunity to participate in an original computer science lesson through the escape room concept. This innovative approach to learning enabled young participants to explore the secrets of the Adriatic Sea through fun and creative tasks, decipher hidden messages and use artificial intelligence tools, all in an interactive atmosphere with the help of invisible markers and UV light. Escape room as a form of teaching has shown how pupils can learn in a way that encourages creativity, teamwork and the application of new technologies, thus creating an unforgettable and exciting classroom.

Spoj IKT-a i glazbe!

Učenici sedmih razreda dobili su zadatak da uz pomoć tableta istraže o različitim glazbenim žanrovima i glazbenim utjecajima: od klasične do elektroničke glazbe. Učiteljica ih je podijelila u grupe, a oni su motivirano odradili zadani zadatak. Korištenje tableta omogućilo im je da istražuju o glazbi, ali i da ju poslušaju. Učenici su bili spretni u korištenju tableta te su uspješno obavili zadatak!

Cooperation with the Red Cross

Our school continues to cooperate with the local community! We joined the humanitarian campaign of the Red Cross for happy children's holidays. For four years now, this humanitarian action has been cheering up children without adequate parental care, children who spend Christmas in the Ruža Petrović Home, in the Majmajola House of Mercy, in the Pula Community Service Center. The aim of the campaign is to cheer up the little ones with a sweet package. The action at our school lasted from December 9 to 13. The pupils brought sweets and diligently made greeting cards all week. The pupils took everything collected to the Red Cross. Thank you to everyone who responded to the campaign and brought laughter to homes for children!

MIC'CASA

Today we were visited by Rovinjske Njuškice and Istrian de Dignan - two associations that, in cooperation with the City of Rovinj, launched the MIC'CASA project. Sixth grade pupils got to know the project and found out why it is important for their community. This project aims to preserve biodiversity, preserve the environment and protect animals. The representatives of the two associations explained to the pupils what they do specifically, where the houses for insects and feeders for animals were placed, and they also provided them with practical work! Several pupils had the opportunity to build a house for insects! Also, the pupils received notebooks and a calendar of the MIC'CASA project as a gift. Thank you to the associations for visiting. It was an interesting and educational meeting!

Game against corruption

The International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated on December 9. The pupils of our school at Civic Education independently created a game called Pupils, don't corrupt yourself! The game includes cards on which pupils have designed situations that are part of their daily lives in which they have to choose whether to act justly or to choose another path. Depending on the selection, they move forward or backward on the game board. The winner is the one who reaches the finish line first! Through play and entertainment, pupils are encouraged to reflect, but also warned to choose their own moral life path.

St. Nicholas in the Home

On St. Nikola’s day pupils of the 5th A grade who are attending the optional subject of Catholic Religious Education under the guidance of the religion teacher visited the Home for the Elderly "Domenico Pergolis" Rovinj. Trained in St. Nikola, Krampus and their helpers visited the users of the Home and cheered them up with company and conversation, but also distributed candies and paper whips they made themselves. It was another example of cooperation between the school and the Home to the mutual satisfaction of the users of the Home and the pupils!

Project on determining the state of environmental awareness of the school

The sixth graders and their teachers started the project "Environmental awareness of the school". The goal of the project is to activate pupils in creating a sustainable environment and increasing awareness of the importance of sustainable development in everyday life. The pupils visited the Communal Service of the City of Rovinj and heard firsthand how waste is disposed of. Today, they had a workshop in class, with which they started researching the environmental awareness of the school. Pupils first worked individually, then in pairs, and finally in groups. They were given the task of working out how we deal with the following things in school, what are the challenges and possible solutions for handling water, old batteries, waste and paper. Some of the pupils' suggestions were: battery containers, solar panels, recycling bins, using tablets instead of paper, recycling waste at brunch, etc. It was just the beginning of the project, these initial ideas are followed by research and ultimately the initiation of changes in the school lives of pupils, of course in the spirit of sustainable development!

Sustainable decorations

Christmas time is a time of family, giving, decorating and much more. The pupils of our school, under the guidance of the Art teacher, showed how Christmas is also a time to think about planet Earth. Why buy new decorations when you can make them from old items? With a little good will and a little more creativity, the pupils made beautiful decorations and a pine tree, and in addition to the Christmas spirit, they brought the spirit of sustainable development to our school. They made the baskets from the pages of old books and old cardboard boxes that they cut and painted, while the pine is made from chipboard that was intended for waste. Congrats to the pupils and the teacher!
